Video Transcript for Review of ASA Electronics RV Air Conditioners - Advent Air Black Low Profile For Carrier - ASA46YR

Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look together at this Advent Air Black Low Profile 13,500 BTU RV Air Conditioner for your carrier setup. Now, this low profile air conditioner unit is going to let you replace your carrier rooftop air conditioner on your RV or camper. And the included wiring adapter here is going to enable this air conditioner to work with your existing carrier setup. So it's virtually a plug and play operation here with this wiring kit. And the low profile design of this air conditioner is going to minimize wind resistance to help improve your overall fuel efficiency and also provide you a little more overhead clearance.

Now this 13,500 BTU per hour air conditioner, it's going to do a great job of quickly and efficiently cooling the inside of your RV or camper. And this is going to be compatible with your ducted and ductless systems. And this is going to be a bolt-on installation with the included hardware that you see there. So this is gonna work great for your motor homes, your RVs, and your fifth wheel and travel trailers. I do wanna point out though that this is not approved for use on school buses, food trucks, enclosed utility trailers or off-roading vehicles.

Just so you're aware of that. This is going to fit roofs from two and a half inches to five inches thick with an opening size of 14 and a quarter inches long by 14 and a quarter inches wide. And just to go over some overall measurements of this unit, so you have a good idea of the size. Measuring the length from front to back, we're sitting at about 31 inches long. The overall height from top to bottom, we're sitting at about 10 and one eighth inches tall.

And the overall width, we're sitting at about 24 and 15, 16th inches wide. The unit itself weighs a little under 70 pounds, and I would like to go ahead and remove the cover. I went ahead and removed the screws before our time together, just to save some time, and I, as you can see, you can see a little bit of the inside there from that view. But I want to give you a better view of the inside by giving you an overhead look. Now, this air conditioner does feature a fan blade with a three speed motor that's gonna give you ample airflow at 500 cubic feet per minute.

This air conditioner also features a condensation dispersion system, which is going to increase the cooling efficiency by managing the moisture to prevent water runoff. So hopefully you have a really good view here of the inside of our unit, with that cover off. I'm gonna go ahead and replace the cover. And while I do, I just wanted to point out that this cover is- (Andy knocks on cover) very, a pretty thick piece of plastic. I think it's gonna be very durable for you. Other RV air conditioners that I've come across in the past, some of them have thinner covers, they're kind of flimsy. They don't feel as durable as this one. The covers from Advent Air, especially on their low profile units, they seem pretty durable, pretty strong. So I think they're gonna do a good job of resisting impacts and do a great job of protecting the internal components from water and debris. (Andy taps on cover) And if you notice, this is very easy to remove. Again, you're just gonna remove the screws that secure it into place, then use the Phillips head screwdriver. So you can remove this cover, do a little bit of maintenance if you need to, clean it up, if you would like, before the season begins. And then when you're done, this is going to fit right back into place. It's gonna be a nice, snug, tight, secure fit. And then you'll just tighten down those screws and you will be good to go. The frame of this air conditioner is metal. It's a rigid metal frame, so it's going to be very durable. And you won't be able to see it from that angle, but on the bottom of this air conditioner, we do have thick foam support pads that's going to provide support between the roof of your RV and the air conditioner. And then a gasket seals the opening to prevent water seepage and air leaks. And those foam pads are gonna do a great job of helping to reduce noise, once this is mounted on the roof of your RV or camper. Let's take a closer look at our start capacitor on this side of the table here. This start capacitor, as you no doubt know, is going to jumpstart your air conditioner when a campsite or a generator just doesn't have enough power. And this is going to store energy that will later be used for the next startup. So this will be installed inside of your air conditioner unit with the included hardware here. And again, this is that wiring kit that we mentioned at the beginning of our time together, that's gonna help you plug right into your existing carrier setup. Instructions are also included with that. And this is UL and CUL certified. We do also provide this air conditioner with a white cover, so if a white cover goes better with your setup than a black cover, we do have that available here at etrailer.com. Also, we do have these air conditioners with a higher BTU rating. If 13,500 BTU is not enough, we do also offer this in a 15,000 BTU rating. Well, I think that's gonna wrap up our look today. I do hope that our time together was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.

So EASY it aughta’ be CHEESY!!! Unboxed AC Unit, noticed two dents in the unit but none of the parts looked damaged or inconsistent; So I decided not to call regarding minor damage, instead I decided to install it by using two ramps I made out of scrap wood. TIP: the wooden ramps made it so simple to install the unit with minimal effort and two people. This made it a breeze to put in and I really recommend using this tip when installing your unit… The New Advent AC Unit made is so simple to plug into the dometic. This unit is made for easy installation and almost a universal fit. Great Experience at this establishment and happy with their product and selection of RV and Trailer parts. I will definitely recommend to all my fellow RV’ers! Happy Shopping! Always remember… Keep your library card updated!??????

I purchased this 15,000 BTU unit with the direction from customer service. I was told that it was a replacement for my original Dometic AC on my 5th wheel and that it would mount and have identical wiring.
They were very helpful and correct. It was extremely easy to replace. The mounting bolts and wiring hook up were identical to my old unit. The hardest part was getting it on the roof of my camper which actually wasn’t that difficult. I put an old piece of carpet (upside down) on the roof to protect it. I used my tractor with a front loader to lift it as high as I could then just set it up on the roof.
Once I removed the diverter/trim from the inside ceiling there are 4 bolts holding the unit in place, one wiring plug and the freeze sensor attached to the evaporator. Once that was all done it just lifted off the roof. After cleaning the roof where the old unit set, I simply set the new unit on the same seal footprint. I went inside hook up the wire plug, located the freeze sensor and tightened the 4 bolts. Don’t tighten the bolts too tight, just enough to hold it tight and adequately compress the foam seal.
The overall size of the new unit is shorter and smaller than the Dometic.

So far so good, I ordered two of these to replace my existing units.
One unit arrived damaged, but is working OK.
They seem a little noiser than the Coleman Machs.
Working good so far.

Changed out dometic 13,500 BtU conditioner with 15,000 BTU with Advent Air. The fit was exactly the same dimensions with the same plug for thermostat and other controls. All I had to reconnect was the 115v electric. When started it took about 30 seconds for fan ramp up to full speed and then compressor kicked in. Two people took two hours. One person had previous experience. Should work well cooling a 30ft fifth wheel camper.

We are very happy with our Etrailer purchase! We replaced our 13.5K BTU Dometic Brisk 2 with a comparable low-profile Advent unit. As we were not totally sure of which unit to purchase, we made a quick call into the call center to confirm compatibility. The call center was very friendly & helpful. We received our A/C unit in a timely manner with only 1 minor dent from the shipping process. This did not appear to compromise the unit's function, so we proceeded with the install. As many customers have noted previously, the hardest part of the installation was getting the unit onto the roof. Installing the provided start capacitor went smoothly and the unit fit our Coachmen Apex's measurements well. The plugs & wiring were compatible making the final change-over very easy. As noted in the unit's description, installation hardware is not included in the purchase but was not necessary, as our existing hardware fit precisely. Our new unit is better-looking & much more aerodynamic and compact. Best of all it is MUCH quieter & seems to cool very efficiently in our humid, Southern heat!! Etrailer saved us hundreds of dollars with this purchase, and we can't be more satisfied. Thank you Etrailer! :)
I included a photo of my husband's method of getting the unit onto the roof for your enjoyment.

This item did not arrive today. I ordered a package deal with the rv AC and the distribution ent with thermostat. Today I received the distribution vent with the thermostat. Why sell as a complete set with the item doesn’t ship together. On item came from Missouri and the other is coming from Utah. Installation was set for tomorrow but that is not going to happen. Funny thing is while ordering it stated it was in stock and would be arriving today. Just missing my AC unit. Not the best service from etrailer.

I received this awesome air conditioner unit in a week. Was a very easy install with great instructions. Blows very cold. Good unit

by:

I don't know about longevity however I replaced 2 Dometic Brisk 2 systems on a camper I bought that needed a little more than tlc. It is a 2 zone Dometic system and these plugged right up. Only had them in a for a few days but they work great! Very pleased. I am hoping they last. Shipping was FAST and Etrailer kept me up to date on status. They were also very helpful with questions I had to make sure they would work with my system. I think these are actually quieter than the Dometics I replaced. Not hard to install, in fact the hardest part was getting them on the roof.

by:

Easy to install, direct replacement for the Domestic air conditioner on my Coleman camper

by:

Good air conditioner, but fan won't shut off after set temperature is met

by:

Item arrived damaged by UPS. I contacted etrailer & they are sending a replacement. Very good customer service. As you can looks like the unit was thrown around during shipping.

by:

The A/C seem to be a good value and the customer service from Britney was great. It was not clear to me that this unit didn't include all of the inside the camper components and thermostat as shown in the installation video.

by:

Much more compact and lighter than original unit and came when anticipated. This unit Beatrice made sure the crossover from Coleman to Advent was compatible and right adapter was used. Love dealing with e trailer as I can speak to real people that I can understand and know what they are talking about.

by:

AC works, however, the bottom half of the unit was bent, someone damaged (bent it) the bottom portion and must have put a new top cover on it and boxed the unit up. The box was in perfect shape.

by:

Etrailer folks were extremely helpful! Sheila thank you! The casing had some minor dents in the sides therefore I gave 4 stars. I was able to pull them back out. Advent needs better packaging in their boxes to protect the unit!

by:

The replacement air conditioner works perfectly. The base plate on my original Coleman was smaller, so we have to make some adjustments otherwise everything works great.

by:

Disappointed, I called before ordering the female I talked to told me that my current metal flange and plastic distribution would work with the new Advent AC. Not really, I tried to use the existing flange it turned into a huge pain. I watched the video for the install and it seemed to me that the divider or plenum was included with the AC- Nope, this part also I think is included with the lower unit part # ACRG15 but.... the customer service rep wasn't sure a little disappointed. So now I have ordered part # ACRG15 paid more shipping! In final learn from my mistake customer service reps are not sure about want you need for a complete job, just order everything send back what you don't use.

by:

direct replacement as advertised, easy to do, hard part is getting it on the roof, good instructions, but I youtubed it, also to make sure I was right....definaly do it again,e trailer was great staying in touch..

by:

Affordable, good quality, easy install! This was a plug and play replacement for my old dometic. I saved so much money.

by:

Almost wanted to give it 5 stars only thing so far I dislike was the discharge opening was off to one side and my stock unit was in the middle. With summer coming on we will put it to the test.it is nice a quiet outside.

by:

Arrived early, had some damage on the case but works as should and plugged right in to my Dometic setup. I’m glad I used etrailer and will again if needed

by:

I am very happy with my purchase,it showed up in only a few day and was exactly as advertised, additionally the ease of instalation was a pleasant surprise ans I am enjoying it very much.
Thank you etrailer keep up the good work!

by:

The Advent A/C was delivered in good physical condition. I have not installed it yet. UPS had it sitting in their truck on its end. I do not think that is good for the compressor. Hopefully it starts and runs with no issues when I install it next week. Fast friendly customer service and delivery. Thank you Etrailer.

by:

Everything was exactly what what I needed to get chilling again

by:

My customer needed a unit asap . Ashley found a similar unit that was in stock for me. It shipped quickly and I installed it this morning. Called customer and she was a very happy camper!
